Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated in the country on Tuesday as the Shawwal moon has been reportedly spotted in the night sky on Monday.
After reviewing reports of sighting the Shawwal moon from across the country, the National Moon Sighting Committee has fixed the date of Eid ul-Fitr on Monday night.
Earlier, the committee sat on Monday evening to fix the date of Eid ul-Fitr.
Religious Affairs Minister Principal Matiur Rahman, also chairman of the National Moon Sighting Committee, presided over the meeting at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque complex in the city at 7:15 pm.
Eid-ul-Fitr has been celebrated in Middle East and Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia on Monday.
Iraq’s Grand Mufti Rafi-al-Rifai announced Sunday that Eid Al-Fitr would be celebrated on Monday.
People of Gaza under aggression of Israel have also celebrated Eid on Monday.
Most of the Arab, European, American and Canadian Muslims celebrate the eid today.
