Gaza Muslims offer Eid ul-Fitr prayer in church

Update : 28 Jul 2014, 11:49 AM

The Muslims in Gaza have offered their Eid-ul-Fitr prayer at a Christian Church as Christians gave shelter to displaced Gazans in the Saint Porphyrius Church courtyard, reported International Business Times.

According to the report, amidst the bombs, blood and deaths, the Gaza residents have observed the holy month of Ramadan by praying inside the church.

The refugees from the war-ridden north Palestinian territory were greeted with "Marhaban" by the Christian community.

Mahmud Khalaf, a Gaza resident, said: "The Christians took us in. We thank them for that, for standing by our side.”

“The Christian community is very cordial and became our brothers.”

He also added that it was initially “very difficult to pray Allah inside a church,” but they got accustomed to it as the Christians are helping them in prayers and their fasting.

The church has sheltered more than 500 displaced war refugees and has offered them facilities to commemorate the holy month of Ramadan peacefully.

More than 1000 Palestinians have been killed and thousands others injured and displaced since the launch of operation 'Protective Edge' in Gaza by Israel.
