3,000 yaba tablets recovered in Cox's Bazar

BGB members have recovered some 3,000 yaba tablets in separate drives at different places of Ukhiya in Cox's Bazar on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Sufaira Begum (30), a woman from Myanmar, was also arrested with 1,950 pieces of yaba tablets around 9am at Customkulalpara in Balukhali area. She is wife of late Nazir Ahmad of Myanmar's town Maungdaw.

During the drive, a CNG auto-rickshaw was also confiscated by searching the CNG, parked on the street to the west of Thaingkhali High School at Ukhiya. Some 984 yaba were recovered around 11am.

However, none could be arrested. Lt Colonel Khandoker Saiful Alam, the commander of BGB 17 Battalion of Cox's Bazar, said: “The arrestee along with the CNG have been handed over to the Ukhiya police station after filing a case in this regard.”
