Housewife hacked to death in Natore

A housewife has been hacked to death by unidentified assailants at Shidhuri area of Dharabarisha Union under Gurudashpur Upazilla in Natore on Friday night.

The deceased is Monjura Khatun, 32, wife of Singapore expatriate Malik Hossain.

According to family members, Monjura came unbder attacked around 12 midnight, while she was taking preparation to go to bed after saying prayers for Lailatul Qadr. The victim's two-year-old daughter Munni was in the crime scene and screamed out when she saw the assailants stabbing her mother.

Hearing Munni's scream, neighbours rushed in and took the victim to hospital. But, due to the fatal blows in the hand and some other places in the body Monjura succumbed to her injuries on her way to hospital, said locals.

However, they failed to capture any of the killers as they fled the scene immediately after the incident. Later, Munni said she could identify two of them.

Officer-in-charge Shafiqul Islam of Gurudashpur Station has confirmed about the incident to the Dhaka Tribune.

He said: "Police speculate that the killers may have been already waiting in ambush and attacked Monjura at the most opportune moment."

“We are investigating the matter and we will arrest the killers as soon as possible,” said Shafiqul.
