A Jubo League activist was hacked to death by unidentified assailants at Choklokman area under Shahjahanpur police station on Thursday night.
The deceased is Likhon, son of Lutfur Rahman of Joleshoritola and a Jubo League activist.
Shahjahanpur police station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Mannan said: “Assailants chopped him and dumped his body in the river around 11pm.”
“Later, police recovered the body from the river,” he said.
Meanwhile, miscreants also set fire to the residence of Likhon's in-laws.
The OC said seven people have been dietitian in connection to the matter.
