Unilever finds top 19 interns

Update : 24 Jul 2014, 07:08 PM

The latest instalment of Unilever Leadership Internship Program (ULIP), held from June 16 to July 3 in seven universities, selected 19 top participants for a year-long internship at the organisation starting in September.

The programme took place in Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University, Khulna University, East West University, Brac University, North South University and Independent University Bangladesh.

About the selection process, Taslima H Jaigirder, leadership development manager in Unilever Bangladesh, said while CGPA would always remain a strong criterion, the organisation always took a holistic view to assess on how the candidates had utilised their time as students to develop their skills and abilities at university.

The ULIP started with a written exam, where more than 800 final-year students took part, with 250 students going through to Stage 2, an aptitude test. There, 52 students made it to Stage 3, Group Discussion, held at the Unilever Bangladesh head office, and from there 19 winners were selected for the internship.

“We are globally known as ‘Factory of Building Leaders.’ Hence we know that it is our responsibility to contribute towards the development of the students who will soon become professionals and lead many organisations in Bangladesh,” Taslima said.

ULIP 2014 ended with Kamran Bakr, managing director and chairman of Unilever Bangladesh, handing over the offer letters to the winners.
