On Saturday, Skye McCole Bartusiak was found dead in her Houston home by her boyfriend.
Bartusiak, 21, had been suffering from epileptic seizures since childhood. The reason of the death is unknown yet but it is believed that she died from an attack.
In the 2000 film “The Patriot,” Bartusiak was best-known for her role as the daughter of Mel Gibson character. “We lost our girl,” her mother Helen McCole Bartusiak said. “She was a kind and really beautiful girl.”
Epileptic seizures can take the patient’s life when the airway gets blocked, especially when the patient is alone. The investigation of her death is ongoing.
“We think she had a seizure and choked and nobody was there,” her mother said. “They were working on her for 45 minutes and could not get a heartbeat. I’ve done CPR on that kid more than one time and it just didn’t work this time.” Helen is now looking for the photos of her daughter for the funeral.
