A branch of One Bank at Mehedi Market in Satkhira was reduced to ashes in a fire around 8pm on Sunday.
The loss in the incident is estimated to be over Tk20 lakh.
The cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately.
Informed by locals, police and fire-fighters rushed to the scene and doused the flame after trying for half an hour. Bank Manager Md Romel Sharif and officials also rushed to the spot immediately.
Sharif told reporters that although the cause of the fire could not be ascertained, short circuit might be behind it.
He said the volt of the bank was safe.
“However, the furniture and accessories worth around Tk20 lakh was damaged,” he added.
