A court in the capital yesterday sent 27 local activists of the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami behind bars in a case filed for attacking the Shahjahanpur police station. They are accused of spreading rumour that the face of war crimes accused Delawar Hossain Sayedee appeared on the moon last year.
Tribunal 4 Judge Oadudur Rahman gave the order when the accused 27 appeared before it seeking bail.
On March 3 last year, Jamaat-Shibir activists set fire to 17 government offices of Nondigram upazila parishad, 15 establishments and seven police stations. Three people were also killed .
