Hundreds of students at Dhaka University staged a demonstration in protest of the ongoing Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip in Palestine at the Central Shahid Minar in the university yesterday afternoon.
Forming a human chain under the banner “Young Patriots,” the students called to boycott all Israeli products to show solidarity with Gaza.
They also threatened to lay siege to the United Nations office in Dhaka if the organisation failed to play an active role in stopping the Israeli air strikes in the Palestinian territory.
Speakers at the human chain said the Israeli forces were killing the Palestinian people indiscriminately and attacking the country without any legal cause.
Criticising the Israeli atrocities, they called upon the UN to step up and immediately stop the genocide.
Later, they set fire to Israeli products, saying boycotting the products could cause economical damage to Israel, which would make a lot of difference.
Meanwhile, leaders and activists of progressive student organisations organised processions in the campus area and held a short rally near the Raju Bhashkorjo on the campus to protest the Gaza attack.
