Police arrested an owner of a readymade garment (RMG) factory from Tin Puler Matha area in the port city yesterday afternoon for attacking a policeman.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Shah Mohammad Abdur Rouf of Kotwali circle in Chittagong Metropolitan Police said police had arrested Mohammad Mainuddin, owner of a garment factory in the port city, as he had reportedly attacked a policeman.

The AC said Mainuddin had parked his car on a road  in such a way that it created a tailback several hours long on the intersection where three busy city roads are connected.

On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and asked him why he had parked the car at that place. But, he started to fight with law enforcement instead.

At one stage during the altercation, he grabbed the collar of a policeman’s shirt. Because of this, we had to arrest him as assaulting a police officer is against the law, he added.

The AC added that the arrestee was taken to Kotwali police station. A case was will be lodged with the police station against the RMG owner for obstructing government duty and assaulting a police officer.
