EU to increase grants by 40%

The European Union will increase grant assistance by 40% for Bangladesh in the next seven years.

William Hanna, the outgoing ambassador to Bangladesh, made the announcement while talking to journalists on development and cooperation issue at his farewell press briefing in the capital on Tuesday.

“Bangladesh will receive 100 million Euro grant each year for the next seven years as development assistance,” Hanna said.

“We will focus this new support on education and skills, food security and nutrition, and democratic governance,” he added.

Bangladesh exports to EU market increased by 57% during the last three years to over 10 billion Euro, he said.
