At least five people have gone missing as a mud-laden trawler capsised in Padma river near Mawa ghat in Munshiganj on Tuesday.
According to the survivors, the Palerchar-bound trawler from Louhojong upazila's Moddherchor, with 37 labourers on board, capsised in Padma river due to a giant wave.
Mud-labourer Habibir Rahman, who has been rescued after the incident, told the Dhaka Tribune that a total of 37 people, including the boatman, were on board during the capsise. Later, 32 people were rescued immediately after the incident.
Of the rescued labourers, 10 have been admitted to local health centres.
Sub-Inspector of Mawa Ghat police out-post Mohammad Abdul Qaiyyum said of the injured, four were in critical condition.
The search operation for rescuing the missing labourers is underway.
