Update : 13 Jul 2014, 07:34 PM

Winning the “Best Look” of “You Got The Look” in 2005, Swagata took things to the next level by trying her luck in modelling, anchoring TV shows and acting. A darling to the small screen audience, Swagata is now busy acting in single-episode dramas for this Eid.

In a conversation with the Dhaka Tribune, Swagata shares her recent ventures:

“Every actor long for Eid when he or she can explore diverse roles. Though it is very hard to manage the schedule accordingly, but the offers of experimenting with different types of characters are always alluring,” said Swagata.

“I am doing as many as ten single episode-dramas for Eid. Currently, I am busy shooting for these. The audience will get to see me in diverse roles from a village girl who is exploited by her husband to that of a cleaner, a role of great significance to me. I am working in another interesting drama starring only two people, me and Intekhab Dinar.”

The busy artiste will not have the opportunity to enjoy vacation even on Eid day. “During Eid, I will be in Qatar to anchor a celebrity award show organised by Channel i,” she informs.

Swagata, ex-vocalist of Mohakal, talked about why the band split up recently. “It has been ages since I last practised music. I was not being able to give enough time for the band which also had my siblings Sondhi and Shobbhota. However Sondhi founded another band and Shobbhota is also into music. Since I belong to a family with musical orientation, I can return to music anytime I want.”

Swagata has done a film of the late director Akhtaruzzaman, titled “Shuchona Rekhar Dikey.” The director was a teacher to her.

The shooting of the film finished in 2010 but for the sudden death of Akhtaruzzaman, the release was postponed. Recently, the film got sponsorship and is in the pipeline for release.

About the film, the actor said: “I have portrayed a role of a journalist. After the partition, the Hindus went to Kolkata and the Muslims came to Bangladesh. I come to Bangladesh with my grandfather to delve deeper into the story behind the partition for an investigative report.”

She previously acted in films titled “Shotru Shotru Khela,” “Koti Takar Fokir,” “Phire Esho Behula” and a few others.
