Communications Minister Obaidul Quader has ordered the authorities concerned to repair the downpour-affected Dhaka-Chittagong highway within a couple of days to ensure smooth vehicular movement ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
He also said all the highways and roads across the country, which are 21,500 kilometres under the ministry, have to be fit by July 20 for vehicles’ normal plying.
The minister made the statements while visiting the Barabkunda portion of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Sunday.
Warning of taking stern action against negligent officials, he also expressed hope that the repair works could be done with the deadline as the work in this regard is in full swing.
