Some miscreants have slaughtered a couple at a house of retired government officer in Akua area of the district town on Saturday night.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Haq, and his wife Raihatunnessa, Kotwali model police station Officer-in-Charge Abu Md Fazlul Karim told the Dhaka Tribune.
Locals caught one of miscreants named Mostafa while fleeing the spot after killing.
They gave him a good beating and later handed him over to police.
The miscreants entered the house of the couple around 11am on Saturday night and slaughtered them with a sharp weapon, the OC said.
Police suspected that previous enmity might be the reason behind the gruesome killing.
Detained Mostafa is being quizzing in the police station.
