Veteran Bollywood actress Zohra Sehgal died in New Delhi, the capital of India, on Thursday.
The grand old diva of India's performing arts, whose career spanned 60 years, died at the age of 102, reports the Times of India.
She had been hospitalised with an irregular heartbeat. The last rites will be performed on Friday.
"Zohraji was uneasy and complained of pain in the heart region, so we admitted her to Max Hospital on Wednesday night," her granddaughter Sujata said over phone from New Delhi. "Medical tests showed an irregular heartbeat and traces of pneumonia as well. On Thursday though, she ate breakfast and lunch, so we thought she was headed for recovery. But she suffered a cardiac arrest around 4.30pm and passed away."
