PBCP leaders again declare CHT Commission unwanted

Update : 10 Jul 2014, 07:46 PM

Leaders of Parbattya Bangalee Chhatra Parishad again declared the CHT commission unwanted in Chittagong Hill Tracts for its alleged link with the indigenous people that abducted four Bangalee workers on July 7 allegedly for extortion from Bangmara under Matiranga upazila in the district.

They demanded immediate release of the abductees and also threatened to wage tough movement against the CHT Commission after Eid.

The demand came at a press conference held at Khagrachhari Press Club yesterday. Parbattya Bangalee Chhatra Parishad (PBCP) Joint Secretary Engineer Abdul Mazid read out the press statement before the press.

In the statement, Mazid alleged that the CHT Commission was conspiring to spoil peace and harmony in the CHT areas.

He also held the commission responsible for inciting indigenous people in the area where 51 Babuchhara BGB battalion was stationed.

The 29.81-acre land was duly acquired and only two families lived on the land , added Mazid.

Pointing to the CHT Commission statement that the BGB evicted all 21 indigenous families living in the two villages, the leader said how could it be possible that the two villages with an area of 29.81 acre were inhabited by only 21 families.

He urged the media to visit Babuchhara again and to publish the fact that would expose the real face of CHT commission.

PBCP leader Mazid condemned filing the two false cases against their leaders by the CHT Commission’s Coordinator, Hana Shams, and demanded immediate withdrawal of the cases.

Mohalchhari upazila unit PBCP President Mohammad Shahdat Hossain, Matiranga upazila unit President Lokman Hossain, Panchhari upazila unit President Sohel Rana and district unit member Anwar Hossain answered the questions of journalists.
