The government has no plan to empower deputy commissioners (DCs) to cancel the declaration of a newspaper.
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu told the journalists at his office after the meeting with deputy commissioners (DCs) on Wednesday.
The government is not pondering about the issue, Inu said.
A parliamentary watchdog also vehemently opposed such a proposal on Tuesday.
