A female sub-inspector (SI) has been killed after falling under the wheels of a running train in Kishoreganj rail station on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Aujufa Akter Lipi, 37, an inspector of a Gazipur court and wife of Abul Kashem of Patharia village under Karimganj upazila.
Police and witnesses said the accident occurred at the Kishoreganj railway station around 6:45am. Aujufa Akter went to visit her in-laws in Karimganj and was returning to Gazipur court on Sunday, while she made her daughter and domestic help sit in the ‘Egarosindhur Intercity Express train,’ she went to the counter to bring tickets.
As the train started moving, she hurried back to get on to it but suddenly slipped and fell under the wheels, leaving her dead on the spot, said Kishoreganj GRP station OC Nazrul Islam.
A case was filed with the Kishoreganj GRP station, the OC said.
The body was sent to Kishoreganj Adhunik sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
