A fire has broken out at a readymade garment factory in Sataish road area of Tongi on Saturday afternoon.
SA Khalek, assistant superintendent of Gazipur Indistrial Police, said the fire originated around 4:30pm at FS Sweaters Limited that is housed on the fourth floor of Chaity Complex. "Soon the flame spread to other floors of the building."
Six units from Tongi and Gazipur, Kurmitola fire services rushed to the spot to douse the flame.
Cause of the fire and casualty could not be known immediately, said the police officer.
Md Selim, station officer of Tongi Fire Service and Civil Defence, told the Dhaka Tribune that the fire was brought under control around 6:30pm.
