Consultancy firm signed up for Dhaka-Chittagong Expressway

The government signed a contract with an Australia-based consultancy firm yesterday to conduct the feasibility study and draw the detailed design for Dhaka-Chittagong Expressway Project.

The contract was signed by Roads and Highways Department's Chief Engineer Mafijul Islam Rajkhan and SMEC International's Gavin Harold Strid at the conference room of Sarak Bhaban, according to a press release.

The consultancy cost, which includes feasibility study, detailed design, transaction advisory services and safeguard implementation support, has been estimated at around Tk98 crore.

The cost of feasibility study and detailed design has been put up at Tk over 83 crore.

The consultancy services will have be completed by 2017 as per the contract.

The Roads and Highways Department plans the implementation of the project with the financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank by 2013.
