Update : 01 Jul 2014, 07:47 PM

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday interrogated former Health Minister AFM Ruhal Haque and his son Ziaul Haque on charges of amassing wealth illegally during the last five years of Awami League-led government.

Ruhal along with his son appeared before the anti-graft body at its headquarters at 11:30am as per its instruction, said its Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee at a press briefing in the city.

ACC Deputy Director Mirza Zahidul Alam questioned Ruhal and his son and recorded their statements for more than two hours, he said.

After the interrogation, former minister Ruhal told reporters that he had no undeclared wealth.

The wealth of the former health minister has increased by Tk10 crore, according to his affidavit submitted to the Election Commission ahead of the recently-held 10th parliamentary polls.

Earlier, on January 22, the ACC appointed seven inquiry officials to investigate into the allegations of amassing wealth illegally by seven politicians, including the former health minister.

On February 24, the anti-graft body interrogated Ruhal alone for recording his statement for allegedly accumulating  “unusual wealth” during the last five years prior to the January 5 parliamentary election.
