An upcoming film titled “Jalaler Golpo” won the Asian Cinema Fund at the Busan International Film Festival, South Korea. Written and directed by Abu Shahed Emon, the film got picked for the Asian Cinema Fund 2014 for its post production work.
Around five hundred and sixty five films from Asia were submitted for the award, while 29 films were selected in three categories: script development fund, post-production fund and documentary fund.
Filmmakers from Asia get the privilege of submitting their edited films for the post-production fund and 3-4 films get the fund every year. Made under the banner of Boutique Cinema Project, an initiative of Impress Telefilm, the cast of the film includes Mosharraf Karim, Moushumi Hamid, Toukir Ahmed, Shormi Mala, Nure-e-alam Nayan, Mitali Das, Arafat Rahman and Mohammad Emon.
“Jalaler Golpo” portrays the story of a rootless child Jamal and his struggles throughout life to become a man with a standing in society.
Abu Shahed Emon told the Dhaka Tribune: “During the shooting of the film, we faced many difficulties due to the political mayhem in the country and the actors’ schedules. But I am happy now as we have succeeded in completing the film.”
