The port city of Chittagong has come under the digital surveillance system with the installation of CCTV cameras in and around of the city.
CMP Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam came up with the disclosure on Monday morning while inaugurating three new technology services at conference room of CMP Headquarters.
Three types of cameras – Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ), Face Detector and 1200 TBL – has already been setup in 17 spots of the port city under Digital Surveillance System, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Babul Akhter of Detective Branch (DB) of CMP, also the spokesman of CMP, said.
“A total 56 cameras were installed at 17 points while a total of 111 cameras will be installed at 37 other points within next two to three months,” Babul said.
PTZ camera can take the number of vehicles and it can detect any object within 100 metres in night while it is also operated from android mobile phones sets.
Face Detector Camera can take many peoples’ faces at a time by which helps police to find out the criminals easily.
1200 TBL cameras can take overall view of a place and the snaps can also be examined by zooming in, said the ADC.
The Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) on Monday has launched three new online based technology services for ensuring better services to the port city dwellers.
The new technologies will help maintaining the law and order situation of the commercial capital of the country, CMP Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam said.
The services are Digital Surveillance System, CMP Mobile Application and Vehicle Theft and Recovery Database (VTRD).
