A couple has allegedly committed suicide at Agpara-Sherkol village under Singra upazila in Natore early Sunday.
The deceased are Ashraful Islam,30, his wife Madina Begum,24. Ashraful was the son of Ahsan Ali.
Quoting family members, Singra police station Officer-in-Charge Shafiqul Islam: “The couple went to sleep after completing their dinner on Saturday night. The family members did not get any response after repeatedly knocking at their door in the early hours of the day.”
“The family members found the couple hung to the ceiling when they broke the door and entered the room” he said.
Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Natore modern sadar morgue for autopsy.
The OC said the couple got married 12 years back. Ashraful had been staying in Oman for three years and returned home just two months back. They left behind nine-year-old son Matiur.
He said: “Ashraful had brought a return ticket to Oman for July 6. The reason behind the deaths could not be known immediately. An unnatural death case was lodged at the police station in this connection.”
Police recovered a no claim letter from the floor of the room where the couple accused no one for their death, he said.
