HAB observes 4th founding anniversary

Human Aid Bangladesh (HAB), a volunteer organization working for underprivileged people, celebrated its fourth foundation anniversary on 13 June. It organized a day-long event featuring discussion and cultural activities at the National Library and Archives auditorium in the capital's Agargaon area.

Professor Badiul Alam Majumdar, vice-president and country director of Hunger Project Bangladesh and founder-secretary of “Shujan” (Citizens for Good Governance), was present as chief guest of the programme.

He said, “It is very important that young people take initiatives to bring changes and help others to discover their inner strength.” He praised the initiatives of HAB and its social works.

Among others, Major (rtd) Jaber, founder and chairman of "Change the Lives," Md. Shafquat Alam, executive director of GETCO, Badiuzzaman Bay, a senior editorial assistant of Dhaka Tribune, Rehana Akhter, an adviser at the Stamford University Social Welfare Organization, and Jahidul Azad, a lecturer at Prime University, were present at the programme.

Professor Dr. Touhida Ahsan, vice president of HAB, conducted the program. Shekh Md Moinul Islam, president of HAB, in his speech, said: "We are trying to fulfill our social responsibility by trying to bring about sustainable changes in the lives of the underprivileged people.”

After the seminar the students of “Tona Tunir Pathsala,” a school established by the organization at the Kalyanpur slum, presented a cultural show. The singing, dancing and acting of small children entertained the guests. The programme concluded with the promise to make a prosperous Bangladesh which will be free of poverty, illiteracy and malnutrition.
