One man has been killed and over 50 people have been injured in a clash between the supporters of Awami League and BNP in Tarail Government Primary School polling centre in Rupganj of Narayanganj on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Nirmal, Narayanganj Additional Police Super Md Zakaria has told the Dhaka Tribune.
The polling of Kanchan Municipality under Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj is underway since Saturday morning.
The clash erupted when the supporters of BNP-backed Kanchan Municipality chairman candidate Mujibur Rahman interrupted the supporters of AL-backed chairman candidate Rafiqul Islam as they were trying to capture the Tarail Government Primary School polling centre at 10am, the ASP said.
The clash between the supporters of AL-BNP also took place at Hatabo Government Primary School polling centre at 11am.
