The three separate probe committees formed after the recent incidents of unrest at Rajshahi, Salimullah and Birdem hospitals submitted their reports to the Health Ministry yesterday.
The investigation committee looking into the incident of attack on the Daily Prothom Alo journalist also unveiled its report.
The report said Dr Shafiul Azam of ZH Sikder Medical College Hospital launched an attack on the newsman.
According to the report, the probe body would ask Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council to cancel the registration of Dr Shafiul.
Health Minister Mohammed Nasim unveiled the findings before the media and thanked the probe committee members including the journalists and doctor leaders and also the Health Ministry officials.
Nasim said he would take steps for implementation of the recommendations.
The probe teams came up with a series of recommendations for Birdem, Rajshahi Medical and Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospitals.
For Birdem Hospital, the probe body recommends that the hospital authorities install an alarm system to make sure that they can ward off any untoward incident beforehand.
Forming a crisis management unit, revised recruitment policy and an up-to-date routine of work in participation of junior and senior doctors includes the recommendations.
The committee tasked with probing into the incident at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital suggests that the authorities provide for the injured journalists and bear their medical expenses.
It also recommends that the doctors show their dedication to medical services and the hospital authorities open an information cell.
The withdrawal of cases against the doctors is also included in the recommendation.
The investigation team for Sir Salimullah Medical college Hospital came up with the recommendation that stern actions be taken against the interns.
The probe body made the recommendation based on the proof of offence it found the interns committed.
It also suggested compensation for the damage of the journalists’ camera, mobile and other equipment.
The team also recommends that the journalists should produce their identities first before observing their professional duties.
On April 22, the Health Ministry formed three separate probe committees to investigate the incidents of unrest at Rajshahi, Salimullah and Birdem hospitals.
On April 20, a clash between doctors of RMCH and journalists left about 10 media personnel and three doctors injured on the hospital premises.
Later, the interns went on strike demanding an unconditional apology from the journalists.
Doctors at Birdem Hospital and Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital, popularly known as Mitford hospital, also went on strike after clashes with patients and their attendants.
