Update : 10 Sep 2017, 12:50 AM
State Prosecutor Barrister Tureen Afroz has said the International Crimes Tribunal 1 has deferred the verdict on Jamaat chief Motiur Rahman Nizami maintaining the general principle of natural justice. She made the statement while talking to the reporters after the tribunal postponed the verdict on Nizami on Tuesday morning. She said: “There is no such specified provision that an accused has to be present in the tribunal at the time of reading the verdict. The tribunal gave importance to the general principle of natural justice, it did not want to create an exception out of it.” She said: “The tribunal will wait till the time it gets further report on Nizami's health.” The three-member International Crimes Tribunal 1 led by Justice M Enayetur Rahim passed the order keeping the case CAV, meaning “verdict would be delivered later."
