Jamaat-e-Islami chief Motiur Rahman Nizami was indicted on May 28, 2012 on 16 counts of crimes against humanity including murder, rape, arson and inciting violence.
The charges are as follows:
1. Causing arrest, detention, torture and murder of three victims including, the Head Maulana of Pabna Zilla School, Kasim Uddin, on June 4, 1971. 2. Planning to commit crimes, killing 450 people, raping 30-40 women and deporting of villagers in Pabna on May 14, 1971. 3. Involvement with the torture, murder and rape at Mohammadpur Physical Training Institute. 4. Involvement with murders, rapes, loot and destruction of properties at Karamja village in Pabna district on May 8, 1971. 5. Involvement with the killings of 21people of Arpara and Vutergari villages under Ishwardi police station on April 16, 1971. 6. Ordering the murder of 30 people of Dhulaura village in Pabna district on November 27, 1971. 7. Torturing and killing one Sohrab Ali on December 3, 1971. 8. Killing Bodi, Rumi, Jewel and Azad at the Old MP Hostel on August 30, 1971. 9. Killing 70 people of Hindu community at Brishalikha village on December 3, 1971. 10. Involvement in the destruction of Onil Chandra Kundu's house. 11. Delivering an inciting speech on August 3, 1971, during a meeting of Islami Chhatra Sangha at the Muslim Institute Chittagong. 12. Delivering an inciting speech on August 22, 1971, during a meeting at the Islamic Academy Hall. 13. Delivering an inciting speech during a Chhatra Sangha programme on September 8, 1971. 14. Delivering an inciting speech to the collaborators in Jessore On September 10, 1971. 15. Plotting to commit crimes at Sathia Pilot High School with Razakar commander Samad Miah. 16. Involvement in the killings of intellectuals and professionals.
