Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the city on the occasion of the 65th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Awami League.
After laying the wreath, the prime minister stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of respect to the memory of Bangabandhu.
Sheikh Hasina, also the president of Bangladesh Awami League, placed another wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu on behalf of her party.
Senior and central leaders of the party were also present on the occasion, BSS reports.
Later, Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 65th founding anniversary programmes of Bangladesh Awami League by hoisting national flag as well as releasing pigeons and balloons, while party general secretary Syed Ashraful raised the party flag.
