Dhaka-Northern region rail link halted

Rail communications between Dhaka and the northern part of the country have been kept suspended since Saturday morning as railway tracks in Kalihati upazila of Tangail subsided due to incessant rain.

One dies in Chittagong wall collapse

A construction worker has died and two others have been injured when the wall of an under-construction building collapsed on them in Hill View residential area under Panchlaish police station in Chittagong early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Aslam, Chittagong Medical College Hospital police outpost duty officer Pankaj Barua has told the Dhaka Tribune. Read more.

Khaleda leaves for Bogra in afternoon

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will start for Bogra on Saturday afternoon on her way to visit the northern district of Joypurhat.

The BNP leader will set out from her Gulshan residence at 4pm and she will stay at Bogra Circuit House on Saturday night, Bogra district BNP unit organising secretary Mir Shaha Alam said. Read more.

Ship movements at Chittagong Sea Port channel have been halted temporarily due to excessive rainfall on Saturday.

Chinese police shoot dead 13 attackers

Chinese police shot dead 13 attackers in the country's restive Xinjiang region, after the group drove a car into a Kashgar police station and detonated an explosive device, the official Xinhua news agency reported on Saturday.

Three police officers were “lightly wounded” in the attack on Saturday morning, but there were no casualties among the public, the news agency said citing the local government, reported Reuters. Read more.

One robber beaten to death in Gazipur

One alleged robber of a gang has been beaten to death by a mob when they were engaged in a clash after looting a house in Dumni village of Sreepur upazila of Gazipur early Saturday.
