Cultural activist Rafiur Rabbi, also father of murdered Tanvir Mohammad Towki, has been attacked allegedly by the activists of Jatiya Party in Narayanganj.
The incident took place when he was distributing leaflets citing the call for not to vote for the criminals in Kalirbazar area around 6:30pm.
Seven activists of Twoki Moncho were also injured in the attack. They were admitted to local clinics.
Indicating at a specific "influential" family, Rafiur Rabbi said: "The incident proved that none is safe here from them."
Sammilito Sangskritik Jote president Advocate Prodip Ghosh Babu said they were distributing leaflets in different areas in the evening. "Meanwhile, Narayanganj sadar model police station SI Mizan obstructed us and told that we were violating the electoral code of conduct by distributing leaflets."
Several leaders and activists of Jatiya Party were also present along with police at that time. They engaged in altercation with the activists of Twoki Moncho.
"Meanwhile, Metropolitan Jatiya Party member secretary Akram Ali Shahin came to the spot along with 20 to 30 activists. They attacked on the Moncho activists including Rabbi in presence of police," Prodip Ghosh claimed.
Jatiya Party leader Akram Ali Shahin claimed that general people chased the Moncho activists when they tried to escape the area as police asked them about the leaflet distribution.
However, Sub-Inspector Mizan said two groups engaged in altercation over the leaflet distribution. However, no unpleasant situation occurred.
