Signal no 3 for maritime ports

Bangladesh Meteorological Department has asked maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no three.

Deep convection is continuing over North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, a Met Office weather bulletin said.

Under its influence, squally weather may continue over North Bay, adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh and the maritime ports.

The low-lying areas of the coastal districts of Cox's Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Feni, Chandpur, Barguna, Bhola, Patuakhali, Barisal, Pirozpur, Jhalakathi, Bagherhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their offshore islands and chars are likely to be inundated by 1-2 feet height above normal astronomical tide.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
