Traders to lose licence for not hanging price charts

Update : 19 Jun 2014, 09:42 PM

The government will cancel the licences of retailers and confiscate goods if they do not hang the price charts of basic commodities in front of their shops.

The Commerce Ministry issued a circular in this regard yesterday, just several days before the Ramadan begins in the country.

Retailers have to hang price charts in the market to help customers buy goods at reasonable prices, according to the circular.

It also says genuine vouchers should be used in money transaction with clients.

Essential commodities will be sold at fixed prices. If any person or trader does not comply with the government directives, his or her trade licence will be cancelled under the existing law, the circular says.

Every year the government comes up with various measures to keep the cost of essentials within common people’s reach when prices of essentials always go up, but to no avail.
