Police Wednesday night arrested a youth in the capital’s Banani in a case filed for harassing the wife of cricket star Shakib Al Hasan during the Bangladesh-India match at Mirpur stadium on Sunday.
Rahib Rahman Khan, son of a businessman, was arrested around 10pm at his house in Banani, Inspector Salauddin Khan, also the OC of Mirpur police station, told the Dhaka Tribune.
“We will arrest the other accused through interrogation of the detained youth, he said.
He said the police had taken much time to identify and locate the youth, who was named by Shakib in the case he had filed.
Some youths allegedly harassed Umme Ahmed Shishir, the wife of Sakib, when she was watching the match at the stadium’s VIP Gallery. Being informed, Shakib allegedly swooped on them with the help of security guards.
A day after the incident, Shakib filed the case accusing Rahib and several others.
