A seven-month-old boy has died and his parents have received severe burn injuries in a fire in Degerchala area of Gazipur City Corporation early Wednesday.
The deceased is Fahim, son of RMG worker Jewel Hossain, 25, and Munni Begum, 22. Jewel and Munni were critically injured in the fire incident.
Munni's brother Motiur Rahman confirmed about the death of the child.
The couple are undergoing treatment at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Mozammel Haque, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.
Quoting locals, Mozammel said: “The fire originated from a mosquito coil at 4am while the victims were sleeping in their room, leaving them critically injured.”
Hearing the cry of the victims, locals rushed in and rescued them, he added.
