A woman has hacked her husband to death over family feud at Boraigram Uttarpara village under Boraigram upazila in the district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased, Selim Reza,32, son of Abul Hossain, got married with Jesmin Khatun, 25, some six years ago.
According to the locals and family members, Selim and Jesmin had a long-standing family dispute as Selim was drug addict and used to tortured Jesmin for money.
On Wednesday morning, Selim engaged in an altercation with his wife and demanded money from her in order to buy drugs. At one stage of quarrel, Jesmin hacked Selim with Sharpe weapons, leaving him critically injured, said witnesses.
Locals rushed Selim to the Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead at 7am.
Boraigram police station Officer-in-Charge Ibrahim Hossain said: “The police have held Jesmin from the spot and recovered the body of Selim. Selim's mother Sanwara Begum has filed a murder case against Jesmin.”
