Myanmar has released 32 Bangladeshi prisoners who were serving different imprisonment terms in the country.
They were returned back to Bangladesh after a meeting between Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) held at Mongdu in Myanmar on Tuesday morning.
BGB 42 Battalion Teknaf Sadar BOP Company Commander Md Jakaria lead the delegation team from Bangladesh side in the meeting.
The Bangladeshis were held at different periods of time while fishing in Myanmar maritime zone and while trying to intrude into Malaysia. They are all from Cox's Bazar district.
BGB 42 Battalion Acting Captain Nazmuj Sadat Shommo said: “The returned Bangladeshis have been handed over to Teknaf police station.”
Teknaf Model police station Officer-in-Charge Muktar Hossain said: “They will be handed over to their family members after inspection.”
