Border Guard Bangladesh personnel have arrested a suspected drug trader with some 29,698 pieces of Yaba tablets from Nazirpara area under Teknaf upazila in Cox's Bazar on Monday morning.
The arrestee is Mohammad Alam, 30, son of Syed Hossain of Kaikkhali area in Teknaf.
Teknaf BGB 42 Acting Commander Major Md Nazmus Sadat Shoummo said: “Acting on a tip-off, a BGB team led by Havilder Md Abdul Mazid of Nazirpara BOP, raided the area and arrested Alam with 29,698 pieces of Yaba tablets.”
“Two BGB personnel were injured in a clash as the drug dealers tried to snatch away Alam,” he said.
However, the BGB officials could not identify the other drug dealers, the official added.
A case has been filed with Teknaf police station in this connection.
