The cabinet has approved in principle the draft of Bangladesh Coast Guard Act, 2014, keeping provision of death sentence as the maximum punishment for any kind of insurgency.
The draft of the act got the cabinet nod in its regular meeting held at the secretariat in the capital on Monday afternoon.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting.
