The Kolkata police have arrested Nur Hossain, the prime accused of seven murders in Naryanganj, on Saturday night.
A police official in Baguihati police station confirmed the news of his arrest to the Dhaka Tribune over phone.
While contacted the Baguihati police over phone at 2:30am, the duty officer wishing not to be named confirmed the information of his arrest.
Nur will be produced before the Barasat court on Sunday
Meanwhile, a high official of Bangladesh intelligence told the Dhaka Tribune that Nur Hossain was arrested with three of his accomplices in Kaliakair area under Baguhati police station around 11:30pm (Indian Standard Time) on Saturday.
He was arrested from the fourth floor of multi-storied Indraprastha apartment complex owned by one Seema Singh, who lives in Mumbai.
Of the arrested accomplices, two were identified as Asif and Shamim.
Quoting Indian sources, the official said they have been taken to the local police station and would be produced before the Barasat Court on Sunday afternoon.
Law enforcing agencies of Bangladesh are yet to confirm the news of the arrest.
Earlier on April 27, NCC panel mayor Nazrul Islam and six others were abducted. Later, their bodies have been recovered from Shitalaykha river on April 30.
Nazrul's wife filed an abduction case against Nur on April 28.
