Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed her hope to add 'new dynamism' to relations with China.
Prime minister exchanged her views while talking about relations between Bangladesh and China and other development issues of the two countries in an exclusive interview with CCTV News.
She expressed appreciation for China's support to Bangladesh's development.
Talking about the economic relations and trade, Sheikh Hasina said: “China is actually our development partner and a trusted friend.”
“In our country, communication as well as many bridges have been developed by China, they are cooperating in many areas including power generation and infrastructure development; so we believe that China and Bangladesh can cooperate more,” she said.
During her recent visit to China, Hasina said: “We have decided to allocate a land so that Chinese investors can go there, or China can relocate the labour intensive industries in Bangladesh.”
“We have very cheap labour and it will not only contribute to the Chinese economy, it will do for Bangladesh as well, the people of Bangladesh will be beneficiary.”
For our economic development, we need more investment, Hasina said.
Talking about Bangladesh, India, China, Myanmar economic corridor, Hasina said: “I think the Chinese premier has taken a very pragmatic steps, and I really feel that if the countries can implement it, all the countries will be beneficiary.”
“Besides these countries, Nepal, Bhutan will also be beneficiaries; there will be trade, and people to people contact-that will increase more, so this will open your door.”
She said: “I am really very happy to see that I will do my best to implement it so that we can work together.”
Regarding the corridor, she added that: “We have a common goal, that is we want to build our countries as developed ones, China is going very fast, side by side, we want to follow as well.”
“I think this will give us a good opportunity, not only for the people of Bangladesh, even the people of Myanmar, Chinese people, everybody will be beneficiary.”
