District Road Transport Workers’ Union has enforced an indefinite bus strike in the district on Thursday morning, halting communications of the district with the whole country.
The indefinite strike has been enforced centering a conflict between the owners and workers, said locals.
District Road Transport Workers’ Union General Secretary Kanchon Mia said: “A bus was purchased with the permission of a Bus Owners' Association of District Workers’ Union so that it could be run in the Bhoirab and Mymensingh route.”
“But suddenly the the owners' association cut off the route of the bus, so we were compelled to call the strike,” he said.
On the other hand, district Road Transport Owners’ Association President Helal Uddin Manik said: “They called the strike without informing the owners' association. There is no reason to call a strike.”
