A Feni court on Wednesday has placed engineer Russel, an accused in the Fulgazi upazila Chairman Ekramul Haq murder case, on a five-day remand.
Abul Kalam Azad, investigation officer of the case, also officer-in-charge of Feni Model police station, produced engineer Russel alias shooter Russel before the court at 3pm on Wednesday seeking a 10-day remand.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Khayrul Amin passed the order after hearing the plea.
The OC told the Dhaka Tribune: “Russel has already admitted his involvement in the Ekram murder.”
Earlier on Tuesday night, detective branch of Police arrested Engineer Mohammad Russel from Banani Para area of Feni headquarters for his alleged involvement in the Fulgazi upazila chairman, also Awami League leader, Ekramul Haque Ekram, murder.
On May 20, a group of criminals killed Ekram by shooting and setting fire to his vehicle in front of witnesses at the Academy Road in Feni.
Following the incident, police have arrested 24 people including Jihad Chowdhury, an alleged mastermind and joint secretary of Fulgazi upazila AL unit, and BNP leader Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury Minar, the alleged financier.
