At least three people, including two children, have been killed and more than 100 others injured in two separate clashes in Mithamoin and Karimganj upazilas of Kishoreganj on Wednesday.
The deceased are Morjina Akter, 10, daughter of Abdur Rahim, Robin Mia, 13, son of Asad Mia of Ghagra village and Jakaria, 35, son of Rusmat Ali of Bargharia.
Mithamoin police station Officer-in-Charge Akhtaruzzaman said: “The supporters of Hafiz and Abu Naser locked into a clash with locally made weapons around 12pm, killing the children on the spot and injuring 100 others.”
They locked into the clash over the establishment of supremacy at Ghagra village.
He said: “Among the injured, 10 people have been sent to the different clinics in the upazila and the others were given primary treatments.”
Meanwhile, the supporters of Ratan and Hares groups locked into a clash at Bargharia in Karimganj upazila over a trivial matter.
Karimganj police station Officer-in-Charge Nasir Uddin Bhuiyan said: “Jakaria was killed and 10 others were injured in the clash. The injured have been given primary treatments.”
