At least four people have been killed and seven others injured in separate road accidents in Basail and Kalihati upazilas of Tangail district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased are Masud Rana, 35, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver, Bonna Begun, 30, of Jamalpur, her daughter Ratri Akhter, 8 and truck driver Azam, 28, son of Ruhul Amin of Chittagong.
Basail police station Officer-in-Charge Delwar Ahmed said: “An auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction at Baukhola area on Dhaka-Tangail highway around 8am, killing the auto-rickshaw driver on the spot and injuring five others.”
He said: “Later, Bonna and her daughter Ratri died at Tangail General Hospital.”
On the other hand, a lorry collided head-on with a truck near a filling station under Kalihati upazila on Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu highway around 5:30am, killing truck driver Azam on the spot and injuring four others.
Elenga police outpost Sub-Inspector Md Samsul Alam confirmed about the death to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “The injured have been admitted to Tangail General Hospital.”
