University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) celebrated the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam with a special cultural program “Rabindra-Nazrul Janmotshab” on June 8, on its own campus in Dhanmondi. The program was conducted by distinguished Nazrul scholar and ULAB Emeritus, Professor Rafiqul Islam.
Professor Islam, with Dr Begum Jahan Ara, Professor Kazi Madina, and Dr Tapati Rani Sarkar, elucidated the artistic connection between Tagore and Nazrul. Interspersed with the program were recitations by the panelists and songs by ULAB’s Shangskriti Shangshad. The main attractions of the program were recordings of Rabindranath and Nazrul in their own voices.
Among others, Pro Vice Chancellor Professor H.M. Jahirul Haque; Registrar Lt Col Md. Foyzul Islam; faculty members, admin, students of ULAB and other guests were present in the programme.
