Tareque on fresh five-day remand

The fired Rab official Lt Col Tarek Sayeed Mohammad has been placed on a fresh five-day remand in the Narayanganj senior lawyer Chandan Sarkar killing case.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Chandni Rupom has made this order on Monday.

The order came after OC (DB) Mamunur Rashid Mamun and also Investigation Officer of the Narayanganj seven murder and abduction cases, placed him before the court around 5:15pm, seeking a seven-day remand order.

Earlier, Tarek was remanded four times on different terms in the sensational Narayanganj seven murder cases.

Narayanganj city Ward Counsillor Nazrul Islam, lawyer Chandan Sarkar and five others were abducted on April 27.

Their bodies surfaced in the Shitalakkhya River three days later. Autopsy report said the seven persons were murdered by professionals.

Later, Nazrul's father-in-law alleged that the ex-RAB trio were hired in exchange for Tk6 crore to abduct and kill the seven.

Following the allegations, RAB sent the three officials -- former commanding officer of RAB 11 Tarek Sayeed, Major Arif and Lt Commander Rana to forced retirement.
